Plot Blog

Olitory musings.

Well, it's been a while since I posted anything on this blog, but then I've not been down the allotment as the weather's been too cold, wet or we've been too busy to do much. However, with a warm weekend approaching, thoughts turn to gardening. I managed to get to the plot for an hour or so last night, to find that the narcissi bulbs I planted late last year have flowered, and very nice they look too. I constructed a cane wigwam and planted eight sweet pea plants, hopefully they'll take and provide some nice colour (and smells) in the summer.

Back at home I did some more sowing into my Rootrainers. I now have the following sitting on the windowsill:

  • Lettuce (Laibacher Ice) 16 - modules*
  • Broccoli (Corvet F1) - 16 modules*
  • Broad Bean (Aquadulce) - 20 modules*
  • Brussel Sprouts (Wellington F1) - 12 modules*
  • Tomato (Moneymaker) - 8 modules
  • Tomato (Gardner's Delight) - 8 modules
  • Peppers (Yolo Wonder) - 12 modules
  • Courgettes (Zuboda) - 6 pots
  • Squash (Butternut Sprinter) - 6 pots in the propagator
*all sown about a month ago and doing well.

I also have a tray of potatoes (Foremost) chitting, and they have started to produce shoots.
